None of the information contained herein constitutes a recommendation that any particular wine, security, portfolio, transaction or investment strategy is suitable for any specific person. Corkonomics is not a registered investment adviser, broker-dealer or financial planner.

No suitability. The site does not know your circumstances and does not assess the suitability of anything for you.

Wine is a difficult asset. Wine markets can be illiquid and thin; a quoted price may not be achievable; bid-ask spreads and auction premiums are large; storage, insurance and transport cost money every year; provenance, condition and authenticity determine value and are hard to verify; bottles break, corks fail and wine spoils; counterfeits exist; tax treatment varies by jurisdiction; and past appreciation does not predict future returns.

Estimates are estimates. Modeled production costs are Corkonomics’ calculations from stated inputs and are never a winery’s actual confidential cost. The scarcity score is a model estimate from bottles made and age. Vintage ratings are editorial opinion.

No market values. Corkonomics states no current value for any wine and builds no index. It records prices that were published: release prices and US retail offers reported by named publications, and auction lots as the houses published them. A past auction result is what one lot fetched on one day; what a bottle later fetches may be more or less.

Tariffs. The tariff tracker is a research record compiled from cited primary sources with verification dates; it is not customs or legal advice. Rates change by executive action; confirm with CBP or a licensed customs broker.

Data providers. Benchmark and macro series are from Financial Modeling Prep and FRED (Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis), trade data from the U.S. Census Bureau, tariff lines from the USITC, crush and acreage data from USDA NASS and CDFA, French land values from SAFER; all are delayed and may be revised. Data may be incomplete, delayed or revised — always verify against primary sources before acting.
