Editorial policy

Research only, never advice. Corkonomics describes markets; it does not recommend. No page will tell a reader to buy, sell or hold a wine, rank wines as investments, or forecast a return. Language is “historical market data”, “observed pricing”, “Corkonomics estimate”.

Never invent a figure. Where a producer does not publish production, area or a release price, the page says so. Blank cells carry a reason. Estimates carry a method and a range and are labelled.

Original prose. Facts from producers’ own material are rewritten in Corkonomics’ words and cited; extended prose is never copied. News headlines link to their publishers and are never republished.

No proprietary databases. Corkonomics does not scrape or reproduce Liv-ex, Wine-Searcher, CellarTracker, Vivino, Wine Advocate or any licensed dataset. Individual figures quoted from the trade press (Wine Spectator, Decanter, The Drinks Business) are cited and linked to the article they come from. Auction results come from the houses’ own published results pages, lot by lot, each linked to its record. Data otherwise comes from government and statistical sources, first-party producer information and editors’ own observations.

AI assistance, human responsibility. Portions of the content and data compilation are produced with AI-assisted research; every published figure is labelled by basis and editors are responsible for the record. Data briefs written by a model from Corkonomics’ own rows are labelled as such.

Corrections. Anyone can report an error. Changes are logged with editor, time, prior value, new value and source. Disputed figures are flagged on the page until resolved.

Independence. No producer, merchant or auction house pays for coverage or for how a record reads. Affiliate links, if ever used, are disclosed and never determine coverage.

Images. Only images with a verified licence permitting this use are published, each with creator, source, licence and date verified. See image licensing.
