Farm-Level Wine Grape Prices Dipped Slightly Year on Year

The Producer Price Index for wine grapes measures the prices farmers receive when selling grapes destined for winemaking. As of 1 September 2026, the index stood at 119.339, down from 121.652 a year earlier — a decline of roughly 1.9%. That modest softening means growers were receiving somewhat less per unit for their fruit than they were twelve months prior, continuing a mild downward drift at the vineyard level.

Average U.S. Retail Table Wine Price Edged Lower Year on Year

The BLS average retail price series tracks what consumers in a typical U.S. city pay for one litre of table wine across a range of outlets. As of 1 September 2026, that average stood at $13.769 per litre, compared with $13.951 a year earlier — a decrease of about $0.18, or roughly 1.3%. The retail price therefore moved in the same direction as farm-level grape prices, with both indicators sitting modestly below their year-earlier levels.

U.S. Winery Gate Prices Barely Moved Over the Past Year

The Producer Price Index for wineries (NAICS 312130) tracks the prices U.S. winery producers receive for their output before goods reach retailers. As of 1 September 2026, the index stood at 206.454, up from 206.161 a year earlier — a rise of just 0.14%. That near-flat reading suggests winery-level pricing has remained broadly stable over the twelve-month period, with producers absorbing or offsetting cost pressures rather than passing them through at the gate.
