Romanée-Conti is Domaine de la Romanée-Conti's monopole grand cru of 1.81 hectares. The domaine publishes bottle counts per vintage in its release documents; production runs at roughly 5,000–6,000 bottles, and none in 1946–1951 while the vineyard was replanted. It is sold only within the domaine's mixed-case allocations, which is why the secondary market — not the domaine — sets its price.

Burgundy grand cru (Pinot Noir)
A Pinot Noir from one of the top-ranked vineyards of Burgundy. The plots are tiny and each vine gives very little wine.

The essentials
Price history in outline
Romanée-Conti led the Burgundy boom of 2010–2022 and the correction that followed. Auction records for old vintages (a 1945 at $558,000 in 2018) coexist with a current-release market in the tens of thousands of dollars a bottle, falling sharply from the 2022 peak in trade reporting.
